PhotoModeler, the award-winning Windows based software program from Eos Systems, allows you to create accurate, high quality 3D models and measurements from photographs. PhotoModeler is widely used by professionals in the fields of:

  • Easy to Use and Learn: Includes an advanced Windows user interface, Wizards for easy project set-up, extensive multimedia tutorials (over 4 hours playing time!), printed user guide, and extensive on-line help.
  • Modeling Tools: Create models using PhotoModeler's Point, Line, Curve, Edge, Cylinder, and Shape marking tools.
  • Surface Tools: Add surfaces to features defined by Points, Lines, Curves, and Edges. Create NRBS Surfaces from Lines, Edges, and Curves.
  • Photo-textures: Add photo-textures and colors to surfaces. Export textures with 3DS, OBJ, VRML, and 3DM.
  • 3D Viewer: View, measure, select objects, and interactively rotate the created 3D models with full photo-textures.
  • Measurement Tools: Perform point, distance, length and area measurements right within PhotoModeler.
  • Photograph Handling: Work with any number of photographs, add new photographs at any time, and import many different image formats. * Image Control: Use extensive Zoom Tools for accurate sub-pixel marking, Photo Rotate for easier viewing, and Image Enhancement for increased visibility.
  • Photo-Projections: Check project quality by projecting 3D data onto your photos.
  • Camera Support: Use images from digital, film, or video cameras. Automatic Camera Orientation determines the position of the camera when the image was taken. Use different cameras in the same project.
  • Scale/Rotate/Translate: This feature provides you the ability to apply proper scale to your project and set your model in the proper coordinate system for exporting.
  • Export Capabilities: Export your model to Autodesk DXF (2D and 3D), 3D Studio 3DS, Wavefront OBJ, VRML (1&2), IGES, OpenNURBS/Rhino, StereoLithography STL, RAW, Maya Script format, and Google Earth’s KML and KMZ.
  • Camera Calibrator: Accurately measure your camera's focal length, principal point, digitizing aspect ratio and lens distortion.
  • Customizable Interface: Control the layout and appearance of your PhotoModeler screen. Customizable items include toolbars, short cut keys, and colors for items such as 3D objects, Projections, and the 3D Viewer.

Special Features:

  • Shapes: Shapes are geometric solids like boxes, wedges, pyramids, etc. that provide a very fast way to add man-made objects to a scene by marking just a sub-set of the shape's edges on the photo(s).
  • Google Earth Export: PhotoModeler has a number of export formats but a very interesting one is the Google Earth KML/KMZ format. You can easily put a model generated in PhotoModeler into the geographical context provided by the Google Earth world viewer.
  • NURBS Surfaces: NURBS Surface construction features allow for modeling of complex curved surfaces.
  • NURBS Curve Modeling: High quality NURBS Curve tool provides great modeling capabilities for objects/scenes with curved edges.
  • Silhouettes Solids Modeling: Provides the ability to quickly model complex and organic shapes.
  • Cylinder Modeling: Model and measure cylindrical shaped objects such as pipes and pillars.
  • Texture Extraction and Ortho-Photos: Extract images from surfaces by removing any perspective and shape distortions and use them as texture maps in rendering programs, or export them as orthographic photomaps.
  • Sub-Pixel Target Marking: High precision point measurement with circular targets based on advanced computer vision techniques.
  • Imports: Imports provide the ability to import 3d data into PhotoModeler from external sources. These imports can be used as control points (to help define the shape and coordinate system), as objects (that can be individually rotated and translated to match the existing project data), or as scenes that can be used to combine data.
  • Control Points and Perspective Matching: Enter known 3D point locations into PhotoModeler and accurate camera positions and angles are generated automatically. Improve camera geometry or match a camera to a perspective photograph for a rendering program.
  • Edge Modeling: Model linear features even when distinct end points cannot be matched across the photographs.
  • Offset Points: Create 3d points that are offset along a coordinate axis or a vector defined by two points. Good for jigs and evidence markers or accurate modeling of points that cannot be targetted.
  • Constraints: Enter known relationships into the project (e.g. parallel, perpendicular, collinear, etc) to fine-tune processing.
  • InverseCamera: Enter a few known control points or constraints and the focal length and position of an unknown camera is automatically calculated for projects involving single or multiple photos.
  • Single Photograph Support: Use InverseCamera with several known control points or object constraints to model from a single photo. This allows the use of photographs from historical archives, bystanders, and third parties for producing 3D data.
  • Automated Tools for Surface Models: Automated marking, referencing, and surfacing aid in high-density surface model creation.
  • Project Merge: Combine two or more PhotoModeler projects into a single project.
  • Programmability: Use a DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) interface to control certain functions in PhotoModeler and to have data fed in through other Windows applications.
